Raissa is the Senior Director of Individual Philanthropy for the Foundation for SBCC. She joined the Foundation in April 2016 after serving as Director of Development at the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara for nearly 5 years, and Direct Relief before that.
Prior to moving to California in 2011, Raissa was a Senior Managing Director at Changing Our World, Inc., a fundraising and philanthropy consultancy in New York City, where she led the firm’s work with human service organizations and international NGOs. She has helped dozens of nonprofit organizations build strategic fundraising plans, grow major gifts programs, develop fundraising capacity, and execute capital campaigns and other funding initiatives. Most notably, Raissa led the teams that consulted with World Vision U.S., the nation’s largest Christian relief and development organizations. She helped World Vision launch a significant five-year initiative to raise $500M in capital to support five critical development initiatives in sixteen countries. As their consultant, Raissa served a key role on the fundraising team and was responsible for training and equipping World Vision’s major donor representatives throughout the country with the necessary tools and skills to achieve their fundraising goals.
Raissa earned a Master of Public Affairs degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. She has presented numerous workshops and trainings across the nation to executive directors, board members, and development professionals. In 2010, Raissa presented at the Convening at the Skool World Forum in Oxford.
